The BBC (funded by NESTA) arranged for ‘Expert Roboteers’ to work with enthusiastic children in specific schools across the country to develop ‘Technogames’ robots.
For 6 months Adrian Marshall became the BBC’s ‘Expert Roboteer for Wales’ and ran sessions most weeks at six schools and colleges in Powys, either running hands on robotics event or helping the students design, build and test a variety of competitive robots for ‘Technogames’.
Schools involved were
· Builth Wells High School
· Llandrindod High School
· Llanidloes High School
· Newtown High School
· Welshpool High School
· Coleg Powys
and some of their feeder primaries.
All the robots created were assessed at a special ‘end of Residence’ event at the Enginuity discovery centre at Ironbridge.
The winning robot (an assault course entrant from Llanidloes) won an all expenses paid trip to the Young Scientist and Technology exhibition in Dublin where they exhibited ‘Bodgebot2’ alongside finalists from the other UK regions.
